The catastrophic floods that have affected large parts of Slovenia in recent days are also affecting our students.
As the catastrophic event coincides with the autumn exam period, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation has made the decision that higher education institutions may adjust the performance of study obligations due to the floods. On the basis of the recommendation of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the SEB LU Senate approved the following decisions at its 46th regular meeting on 21 August 2023:
Decision no. XLVI/4-2.1
Students who are directly or indirectly related to the natural disaster (coming from flooded areas or having no access to the faculty and those who have been carrying out activities for a long period of time to eliminate the consequences of the floods and can support this with appropriate documentation) will be given the possibility to extend their student status for justified reasons (Article 70 of the ZViS and Article 126 of the Statute ofthe UL), with the inclusion of the natural disaster and the activities carried out in order to eliminate the consequences of the disaster among the justifiable reasons.
Decision no. XLVI/4-2.2
Students who are directly or indirectly linked to the natural disaster (coming from flooded areas or having no access to the faculty, as well as those who have been working for a long time on flood recovery activities and can support this with appropriate documentation) will be given the possibility to repeat the year (Article 66 of the ZViS) with 6 ECTS (for bachelor’s studies) and 7 ECTS (for master’s studies) less than stated in the Conditions for Progressing, Repetition and Extension of Student Status in the Academic Year 2023/2024.
Decision no. XLVI/4-2.3
Students who are directly or indirectly related to natural disasters (coming from flooded areas or having no access to the faculty, and those who have been carrying out activities for a longer period of time to deal with the consequences of the floods and can support this with appropriate documentation) will be given the opportunity to directly apply in the academic year 2023/2024 (Article 125 of the UL Statute regarding the minimum number of ECTS credits achieved for exceptional enrolment), which means the following:
1. In order to enrol in the second year of the study programme at the UPEŠ and VPŠ, a student must successfully complete the study requirements of the first year to a minimum of 42 ECTS credits. If less than 40 ECTS credits have been achieved, it is not possible to progress to the second year.
2. In order to enrol in the 3rd year of the UPEŠ and VPŠ study programme, the student must successfully complete the study requirements of the 1st and 2nd year, i.e. the requirements of the 1st year (60 ECTS) completely and the requirements of the 2nd year (42 ECTS credits), i.e. a total of 102 ECTS credits. In this respect, the requirements of the 3rd year are also taken into account, with the exception of the Internship in the higher education programme of the VPŠ, which is not counted towards the fulfilment of the requirements. If the requirements of the 1st year have not been completed and/or if the number of credits obtained is less than 102, it is not possible to progress to the 3rd year.
Decision no. XLVI/4-2.4
Students who are directly or indirectly related to the natural disaster (coming from flooded areas or who have no access to the faculty and those who have been carrying out flood relief activities for a longer period of time and can support this with appropriate documentation) will be granted an extension of the autumn examination period in the study calendar of SEB LU for the academic year 2022/2023 and will be allowed to extend their enrolment in the study programmes until 30 October. Students must inform the SEB LU Student Affairs Office at study@ef.uni-lj.si at least 5 days before the scheduled examination date of the examination they are unable to attend that they are unable to attend the examination due to an emergency. For examinations in courses to be held from 21 to 25 August 2023 inclusive, the deadline is 25 August 2023 at 12 noon. On the basis of the notifications received, additional examination periods will be organised in September 2023 and registration will be open until 30 October 2023. The dates of the additional examination periods will be published by 8 September 2023
