34th Annual Meeting of the European Finance Association (EFA)

The main Annual Meeting of financial experts from all over the world, the 34th Annual Meeting of the European Finance Association began on August 22 with a Welcome reception at the Ljubljana Castle. Every year Meeting is visited by around 500 well known researches, professors and other finance experts. Two years ago the Meeting was held in Moscow, last year’s was in Zurich. This year, from 22-25 August 2007, the organization is held by our faculty.

Faculty received a total of 1089 papers which is 173 more than last year. This is the largest number of papers submitted to this conference to date. Only 218 papers have made it to the final selection. The conference participants come from 31 countries and include the most prominent experts in finance. There will be 71 sessions, including a special plenary session of the European Central Bank.

Keynote speech will be given by the internationally known economist Nippon Life Professor of Finance and Professor of Economics Franklin Allen from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The conference program is headed by Professor Arnoud Boot from the University of Amsterdam. Professor Dušan Mramor from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana is chair of the organizing committee.

Academic program will be supplemented by a wide selection of social activities where the participants will have the chance to get to know Slovenia and taste delicious Slovene cuisine and enjoy in the rich selection of Slovene wine.
