Current research indicates that the average period in which firms are able to sustain competitive advantage has decreased over time. A firm’s ability to identify internal capabilities and to differentiate itself from its competitors is crucial. The purpose of the presentation is to propose a model of technological capabilities and to investigate in more detail the potential differential impact of technological capabilities model on sustainable competitive advantage in the global industry. The primary goal is to contribute to the recent pool of knowledge by introducing innovation capability as one of the most important dynamic capabilities that represent the dominant source of competitive advantage. An analysis has been conducted on the case of one of the largest global producers of domestic appliances The Gorenje Company. The focus is on the following question: How can the combinations of capabilities and resources be developed, deployed and protected to achieve and sustain competitive advantage?
