The Association of Slovenian Financial Experts (ZSFS) has organized its first CFA Institute Research Challenge Slovenia. Similar world-wide competitions are organized annually and provide student mentorship and training in the field of financial analysis.

The venue of the competition was the headquarters of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce where teams of students from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana (FELU), The Faculty of Management in Koper, and the Sv. Ciril in Metod Economics Faculty in Skopje, Macedonia presented their 3-month work. This year’s challenge for students was an in-depth financial analysis of performance and valuation of the Gorenje d.d. Company. Students’ presentations were assessed by a 3-member panel, while their written contributions had been evaluated earlier. The first place was taken by the team from the Faculty of Economics. This achievement serves as an opportunity to compete in the regional completion at the beginning of April in Milan.

The FELU students’ mentor was Professor Igor Lončarski who was aunable to attend the concluding event due to his trip to Australia. The so-called “industry mentor” was Mr. Aleš Mataj from the NLB Bank.

Our congratulations go to the FELU winning team and their mentor, Professor Lončarski.
