Zufar Ashurov, Senior Lecturer, Doctoral Researcher, Department of Corporate Governance and Competition Development, Tashkent State University of Economics, Uzbekistan will present the article:
“Development of Corporate Governance in Transition Country: A Case of Uzbekistan“
”The issue of corporate governance has become a vital topic for the most researches and scientific controversies, and is now playing a key role in economic and social development of both industrialized and most of the developing, including transition countries. In Uzbekistan, as one of the countries with transition economy, the problems of corporate governance also remain actual for both scientific community and industrial enterprises. Therefore, for over two decades the corporate governance reforms have been implemented to develop the state and system of corporate governance in Uzbekistan. In this research we mainly discuss about Uzbekistan’s way towards development of corporate governance system during its transition to the market economy. Specifically, our discussion focuses on the legal reforms, including privatization reforms being implemented for improvement of national corporate governance system, the measures undertaken by the government for improvement of corporate relations in the joint-stock companies, the stages of developing corporate governance, and the future prospects of corporate governance development in Uzbekistan.”
