Dragon Boat Festival
Confucius institute of the Faculty of Economics once again organized, within the month of Chinese culture, ”Dragon Boat” festival and “Dragon boat” racing despite bad weather. Celebration was held on Saturday, June 20 2015 on Bled – Velika Zaka. Besides the competition we also organized numerous traditional Chinese workshops and provided some Chinese appetizers.
Chinese are celebrating festival »Duanwu« now for more than two thousand years. This festival is determined by Chinese calendar and they celebrate it every year on May 5th, which represents the mid-summer. On this day they prepare typical Chinese food »Zongzi« and organize many cultural events, such as competition of “Dragon boats”, which makes this holiday also known as “Dragon Boat Festival”.
The event was enriched by the performance of artists from Nanjing University.
We were honoured by the presence and opening speeches of new ambassador of Peoples’ Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Ye Hao and director of Confucius Institute Mrs. Danijela Voljč.
