On last Monday in September 2015, we celebrated China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, which is the second most important festival after the Spring Festival.
Chinese believe the full moon is a symbol of peace, prosperity and family reunion. Is it also known as the “day of Reunion” and the “Moon Festival”. And it has a history of over 3,000 years in the Shang Dynasty.
Mooncakes are traditional pastries eaten to celebrate this important holiday. The festival typically involves much giving, receiving and eating of mooncakes. They are round in shape, just like the full moon on Mid-Autumn’s evening. Mooncakes are usually eaten in small wedges and shared by family members, generally with Chinese tea.
