In the week between 7 – 11 March 2017, the students of the international joint degree master programme EMTM, coordinated at the FELU by prof. Tanja Mihalič, visited the world’s largest travel fair – the ITB.
The excursion to Berlin was organised within the course on Tourism Policy, which at the FELU has been traditionally lectured by the established US professor William C. Gartner. Accompanied by assistant mag. Miha Bratec, the students participated in numerous lectures and workshops organised within the fair. These were covering current topics such as tourism security, sharing economy and digitalisation of the sector. Among others, the students also attended the National Geographics World Legacy Awards ceremony, during which the Slovenian Tourist Board triumphed as the winner of the destination stewardship award for its sustainability efforts.
This year’s excursion was organised following an excellent experience from last year as it combines academic and practical aspects of teaching and learning. This way the students get the chance to gain a valuable insight on the future employment options and are also able to establish their first contacts with potential employers.
