Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana is committed to high standards of information security, privacy and transparency and for many years we managed data and personal information or any other kind of private information in accordance with the highest recognized standards that have been set by the Slovenian legislation on protection of personal data (Personal Data Protection Act – ZVOP-1). Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana will comply with all applicable GDPR provisions as they come into force on the 25th of May 2018, whilst also working closely with our contractual partners in order to meet our obligations set by the GDPR. To ensure compliance, Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana has already appointed a Data Protection Officer (Mag. Nataša Mulec, natasa.mulec@ef.uni-lj.si) and ensured that the GDPR provisions will be implemented within the statutory deadline.
Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana collects personal data and other personal information on the basis of the provisions of Higher Education Act and other relevant Slovenian legislation, namely as a public institution that is a part of the public sector which is considered to be able to collect and process personal data solely on the basis of legal provisions in the part that carries out a public service, while in the part when it does not perform a public service Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana can collect and processes personal data solely on the basis of consent given by individuals.
Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana collects and processes personal data in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation, as well as in the spirit of the provisions of the GDPR. In the area of information security and the security of personal and other data, it follows the provisions of the Rules on the protection of personal and other data of the University of Ljubljana, which define all the necessary procedures as well as security protocols that try to preserve the integrity of all collected and processed personal and other data.
In accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation as well as the Classification Plan of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana stores and processes personal data for the shortest possible time as defined in the Classification Plan, or until the purpose of the collection and processing of personal data is achieved.
The Faculty of Economics of University of Ljubljana collects and processes personal data for the purpose of performing a public service or for purposes specifically defined in the declarations on the protection of personal data for the purpose of collecting and processing personal data on the basis of individual consents.
Personal data on Faculty of Economics are not transmitted to third countries, except in cases where the faculty uses special software tools based on servers in these countries; in such cases, persons whose personal data could or should be transmitted to third countries are hereby explicitly notified in which case their personal data is not transmitted without their express consent, at the same time, the faculty must take into account the fact that personal data under the current Slovenian legislation can be transmitted to third countries only if the information officer of the Republic of Slovenia recognizes these countries as safe countries or countries that are considered to have implemented a sufficiently strict policy of protecting personal data (such as Privacy shield – EU USA program).
