Innovative All-nighter: 24 hours to innovative and creative ideas at the FELU

Innovation, perseverance, creativity, focus on solutions, motivation and teamwork. These are the competencies participants were able to strengthen during the Innovative All-nighter event held on 13 and 14 April 2018 at the FELU. Their task was to accept a challenge of a selected company and within 24 hours find ways to bring this company closer to young people. Some very interesting ideas were presented and the best were awarded.

The registered teams were first acquainted with eight companies participating in this year’s event: Abanka, BTC City, the Faculty of Economics, Gorenje, Mercator, Studio Moderna Group, Telemach and Zavarovalnica Triglav. The students first chose a company whose challenge they wanted to resolve, and then jumped into work. They picked a room at the FELU where they upgraded their ideas late into the night, while the keenest even decided to skip sleep altogether and spend their valuable time on completing their idea.

The around 270 competitors from all Slovenian universities were enthusiastic about the event and its organisation. One competitor said: “The event came as a positive surprise, I was amazed particularly by the organisation. The event as a whole was really well thought out. A big compliment to the organising team as they did their job more than excellently”.

People had different motives to join in the Innovative All-nighter event. “My friends and I registered for this event mainly for the sake of new experience and a fresh challenge. I am glad we did, as I learned really a lot in the past 24 hours. So, I’d recommend that anyone seeking a new experience, who is creative, motivated and wants to strengthen their teamwork abilities to participate in this event”, one competitor commented after the event. She added the idea was developed throughout the entire night as they believed in it since it was a really good one.

The Innovative All-nighter event thus proves that, despite limited time, with a good measure of creativity and innovation incredible stories can be created. At the same time, it offers the possibility to listen to young people, who are not afraid of challenges and used to a fast changing world, and for whom it’s easier to find the right answers to the problems of today’s business world, while also giving them an opportunity to present their views on the world.
