Roundtable: Slovenia – Russia: economic reforms 20 years later

From 18 to 19 July 2012, successful Russian economists and businessmen, representatives of the Jegora Gajdara Fund visited Slovenia under the project »Support for freedom of thought in economics, history and other social sciences and humanities«.
As part of the visit a roundtable entitled »Slovenia – Russia: economic reforms 20 years later« was held at the Faculty of Economics on Wednesday, 18 July 2012 at 11.00 am. There we tried to answer questions such as: What has the transition brought the two countries during this period? Were the transition paths suitable? What are the results?
After the opening speech by H.E. Mr. Doku Gapurovič Zavgaev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Slovenia and an address by Prof. Dr. Miha Juhart, University of Ljubljana vice-rector the following attendees participated in the discussion:
- Boris Josifovič Minc – Charirman od the Board for the Jegor Gajdara Fund, Chariman od the Managment Board of »Odkrytie«, d.o.o.,
- Jakov Moisejevič Urinson – board member of the Jegora Gajdara Fund, deputy Chairman »ROSNANO«,
- Andrej Aleksejevič Nečaev – member of the Jegor Gajdara Fund Board of Trustees, »Rossijskaja finansovaja korporacija« CEO,
- Prof. dr. Jože Damijan, Faculty of Economics University of Ljubljana,
- Prof. dr. Bogomir Kovač, Faculty of Economics University of Ljubljana and
- Prof. dr. Jože Mencinger, Faculty of Law University of Ljubljana.
The roundtable was headed by prof. dr. Maks Tajnikar, Faculty of Economics University of Ljubljana.
The roundtable was followed by the revealing of the J.T. Gajdara wall panel in the Central Economic Library at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and a presentation of the book J.T. Gajdara, The collapse of the empire (»Gibelj imperii«).
