The 14th Portorož Business Conference, organised by Faculty of Economics Ljubljana and newspaper Finance will take place on 22nd and 23rd November 2012 at the Grand Hotel Bernardin in Portorož.
This year’s Portorož Business Conference, entitled “Searching for new opportunities of waiting for better times?” will focus on several issues. The global crisis does not seem to be coming to an end. What will the countries that create surpluses and have no problems with financing current account deficits and increasing the external debt do? Will they accept the viewpoint that deflation is only deepening global disproportions and is not a good way of restructuring debts of countries and economic agents? What will happen with trends of economic flows and trends of goods and services? Those who do not act rationally in the present global business and political turmoil quickly suffer.
At this year’s Portorož Business Conference, we will use practical examples to show how to use these virtues to turn current trends in the right direction. We will discuss all of this with Gary P. Pisano, from Harvard Business School. Pisano has advanced the business community’s understanding of technology and operations management, competitive strategy, product development, organizational learning, outsourcing and innovation management. Professor Jürgen von Hagen from University in Bonn, also an advisor for the German Federal Government, will present us how the European Union is seen from the inside. We will also discuss about the Role of Intellectual Ventures in Exploring New Technologies: A Symbiosis Between a Bee and an Elephant and a Small Economy.
Experts for economic forecasts Joachim Scheide, from the Kiel Institute for World Economy, and Veljko Bole from EIPF will present us their expectations for 2013. We will also host Giuseppe Canullo from Università Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona) and Minister of Finance Janez Šušteršič. Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and its partner institutions will present research Company Success in Dealing with External Schocks: Western Balkan, Club MeD and Core Europe. The Conference will end with the round table with top Slovene managers.
