Guest Lecture at the Management Class on Trend Analysis and Management of 3D Printing

On 3rd December 2014, Faculty of Economics University of Ljubljana hosted the manager of iTehLab, d.o.o. – Mr Engelbert Zupanc, CEO.

Mr Zupanc gave students with an historical overview of 3D printing from 1984 onwards. He also talked about the 3D printing community, based on which they designed their own 3D printer. He identified further developments in 3D printing and provided an overview of the use of 3D printing in industries such as automotive, aviation, manufacturing and bio-printing. The first Slovenian open source 3D printer was made by iTehLab, d.o.o. therefore Mr Zupanc offered great insight into the challenges they faced in the market when introducing this technological solution to customers. He stressed that cooperation is the most important aspect for the successful functioning of his team, especially emphasizing acknowledging team members’ opinions, encouraging ideas and mutual respect. Students had many questions for the discussion at the end of the manager’s visit.
