Dr. Robert W. Robertson is the Director of Academic Affairs (Central Florida campus) and Fellow at the Center for Workforce Diversity Research at the University of Phoenix. In 2016, Dr. Robertson was named a Fulbright Specialist by the United States Department of State.

Dr. Robertson serves as a Scientific Adviser (2006-   ) to the Global Universities in Distance Education (GUIDE) association hosted by Marconi University in Rome, Italy. He has more than twenty five years of experience leading and managing online education programs, teaching online and developing online courses. In 2011, Dr. Robertson received an award of excellence as an “Online Administrator” from Pearson Learning Solutions.

During his two week visit dr. Robertson conducted two research seminars based on online learning and he taught on the IMB programme.

The first seminar discussed blended courses. Increasingly, blended courses are being used to supplement traditional academic programs. Blended courses typically involve an element of student control over when, where and how learning takes place. In that regard, using blended courses can introduce a degree of flexibility that is often attractive to the non-traditional learner. This interactive workshop will present best practice models with respect to developing and delivering blended courses.

The main topic of second seminar was Building Content for Online Courses: There continues to be growing interest about online learning. A key component of online learning is related to the content that is developed and used in the courses themselves. Course content has evolved to include more use of technology to deliver video and audio into the courses. In addition, assignments are more task oriented and related to current events of direct meaning to the learner. Essentially, course content needs to meet the needs of the student. This workshop will explore the evolution related to online course content and identify practical solutions to building better online courses.

FELU thanks prof. Robertson and the Fulbright programme for facilitating the transfer of knowledge and their long-standing commitment to our faculty.
