Dean Metka Tekavčič, Ph. D, participated at the Economics forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO — On 15 February 2018, Economics Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by School of Economics and Business of University of Sarajevo, hosted more than 500 participants from the economy and public sector of BiH. The speakers at the forum were ministers and high representatives of the governments of BiH, Serbia, Croatia and the EU Delegation in BiH, representatives of the business community in BiH, among them the director of NLB in Sarajevo, Lidija Žigić, MSc, and representatives of the academic community in the region. The Forum addressed the competitiveness of countries in the region, and a special panel was aimed at accrediting higher education institutions as a condition of competitive advantage in the labour market.

The panel was led by the Vice-Dean of School of Economics and Business of University of Sarajevo, Prof. Jasmina Selimović, Ph. D, and participated by Prof. Metka Tekavčič, Ph. D, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Prof. Saša Randjelović, Ph. D, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, Prof. Marina Dabić, Ph. D, from the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb, and Suzana Tihi Babić, MSc, the director of the Human Resources Department at Addiko Bank d. d.

The joint conclusion of the panel’s participants was that international accreditations, which are a sign of the quality of educational institutions, are an inevitable path for the development of educational institutions that need to provide competent graduates for the economy and the society. The achievements of the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana were particularly highlighted, which, from the point of view of the achieved standards quality, is the leading business economics school in the region. In her discussion, she pointed out that the Faculty of Economics is proud of the path it has been following, but is aware that maintaining quality means constant work for all faculty members. She underlined the commitment of the Faculty of Economics to contribute to raising the quality of business and economic education in the region through its experience and to strengthen the cooperation between the schools in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The forum was also attended by Prof. Nevenka Hrovatin, Ph. D., Head of the Joint Master Program in the Public Sector and Environmental Economics (JMPSE), conducted by the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, and Zdenko Rojec, as a professional co-worker of the program.
