Exhibition opening – University of the Third Age – “A cup without coffee…”

In April, the FELU Gallery is hosting an exhibition entitled “A cup without coffee…” prepared by the Ceramics Section of the University of the Third Age, under the mentorship of the potter Lučka Šićarov.

Looking at the ceramic ‘Cups without coffee’ exhibition as witty stories of the designers of the Ljubljana University of the Third Age and Lipa Domžale, one might think about the Slovenian writer Cankar’s attitude to his mother. This time, his work is interpreted in a different artistic fashion. Excellent knowledge of clay as a material enables a very personal, narrative interpretation that invites the observer into a fantasy world of unimaginable proportions.

The exhibited handmade cups are works of art of beginners and of creative artists who (some already for a decade) attend this social education programme in Ljubljana and Domžale. Their works reveal their attitude to nature and the environment that motivates their creativity.

The cups and plates were made of different types of clay, including with engobes, and were glazed at 1,000 degrees C.

The exhibition was opened on 10 April 2018 in the FELU Gallery.
