In the Financial and Cost Accounting course in Year 3 of undergraduate study – Accounting study field (UPEŠ and VPŠ), which is led by Aleksander Igličar, MSc, a guest from the business world came to deliver a lecture on Tuesday, 8 May 2018; namely, Štefka Eržen, Head of User Support at OPAL d.o.o., a company from Škofja Loka.

In her lecture called Monitoring costs by cost centre and project, she described her practical experience from setting up the OpPIS information system in different companies, especially with regard to cost monitoring and control by cost centre and project. She stressed the key role to be played by management in defining the requirements for reporting and the resulting appropriate creation of the information system, establishing record keeping of costs and preparing various reports, where good cooperation between accounting and IT services with other managerial functions is particularly important.

The OpPIS information system is a uniform ERP system developed by OPAL and used by many well-known Slovenian organisations (Prevozi Petek, Šibo Group, Rudis, Računovodska hiša Unija, DUTB, IMP and Brinox).
