On Thursday, 5 July 2018, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana further strengthened its already extensive network of connections with reputable institutions in Slovenia. The FELU has signed an institutional agreement on cooperation with the Olympic Committee of Slovenia – the Association of Sports Federations, thus formally confirming already good cooperation between the two institutions in the field of developing knowledge about management in sports. The agreement was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Metka Tekavčič, Ph.D., and President of the SAF, Mr. Bogdan Gabrovec. Even before signing the agreement, the OCS (as a contracting authority), the present journalists and other public were presented a feasibility study for the European Youth Olympic Festival (this is a kind of Olympic Games for young people) in 2023 in Koper, which was prepared by the following second-year students of the master programme Management in Sport under the guidance of Tomaž Čater, Ph.D.: Rok Heiligstein, Aleksander Mladenović (both also presented the study), Leni Fafangel, Deja Ivanović, Tina Kravanja, Petra Mihelčič, Matej Mišič and Anže Vrh. The presented study raised a considerable interest of journalists, and Metka Tekavčič, Ph.D. and Mr. Bogdan Gabrovec were satisfied with the study’s content and cooperation between the FELU and OCS. They expressed the desire to strengthen such cooperation between the two institutions. With this, the Faculty of Economics took a great opportunity to present its master programme Management in Sport that we have been successfully running together with the Faculty of Sport of the University of Ljubljana since 2007 under the guidance of Tomaž Čater, Ph.D. For many years now, the programme has been ranked among the leading (this year, for example, the 8th place) programmes in this field on a global scale according to Eduniversal. Our faculty can therefore be proud that together with the Faculty of Sport in Slovenia we are the leading educational and research institution also in the field of management in sport, and our intention to strengthen our activities in this field has also been demonstrated with the initiative that next year the programme of our Summer School is going to be enriched by introducing the Summer School of Management in Sport.
