The FELU thus ensures its students are provided with a high-quality study environment with internationally accredited programmes that in some areas are world leaders.

The Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana has been given a five-year extension of its international EQUIS accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). With this extension as its most recent success coupled with the listing on the Financial Times’ global ranking of the top 100 study programmes two weeks ago, the FELU has joined the ‘club’ of the world’s top 0.5 percent business and economics schools and faculties, providing its students with a high-quality study environment characterised by internationally accredited programmes that in some areas are world leaders.

The FELU is the only business school in the wider region to hold the EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA international accreditations. This achievement places the FELU alongside the best business and economics schools and faculties, i.e. schools such as the Swiss IMD, the London Business School, the French INSEAD, the German Mannheim Business School, the University of Vienna, the MIP Politecnica in Milan, the Norwegian BI, the Finnish Aalto, and others.

The EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation is a certificate of quality awarded by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). It reflects a commitment to high quality and continuous progress in business education. The accreditation is only given when strict and comprehensive criteria are met in areas including management of the institution and the creation of an effective learning environment, study programmes and delivery, care for student development, the faculty and expert staff, research based on the highest standards, education for managerial staff, internationalisation, social responsibility and links with the corporate world.

In July, evaluators – distinguished deans and professors from renowned international schools – assessed the FELU’s achievement of quality standards. During their visit, they considered the FELU’s quality by conducting in-depth interviews with over 170 FELU stakeholders, representatives of FELU and University of Ljubljana management, faculty and expert staff, students, participants in the corporate sector and members of the Alumni Club.

In their report, the evaluators declared that the FELU is successful in managing the challenges arising from new trends in business and economics education while demonstrating the highest quality operations in its work.

The FELU’s Dean, Professor Metka Tekavčič, stated: “The EQUIS accreditation being extended by five years is a recognition of the FELU’s excellence. It acknowledges our many years of top-quality work in developing the fields of economics and business in university education, research and the transfer of knowledge to the business community and the broader social environment. Members of the FELU academic community would like to thank everyone who believes in our collective story and the values we share. In our quest for knowledge and efforts to share it, those values show us the way forward”.

Its well-regarded international accreditations (EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA) mean the FELU ranks among the top 0.5 percent of business schools in the world. These affirmations of excellence recognise the exceptional quality of the FELU, while for the students they mean a high-quality study environment, an international reputation and tremendous employability after completing their studies. The FELU is the first institution in both Slovenia and the region to be able to boast the three crowns of accreditation: EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA. In the last month, besides the re-accreditation, the FELU has achieved yet another success with its “International Master in Business and Organisation (IMB)” programme when the latter became included in the prominent 2018 Financial Times’ ranking of world’s best “Masters in Management” programmes.
