On Tuesday, 12 March 2019 the Faculty of Economics organised the Information session for future Doctoral students, who will definitely earn a degree at a highly renewed faculty, since the FELU has become the first and only school in South East Europe to be awarded the EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA international accreditations. During their four years, on either the Economics or Business Doctoral programme, students will be able to work closely with their supervisors and other colleagues.  Both programmes also provide a wide range of international exchange opportunities and also a variety of specialisations.

During the information session various speakers presented general information and an overview of the programme. “I am very happy that you are here and that you are interested in our programme,” Professor Metka Tekavčič, Dean welcomed everybody at the beginning. Professor Aleš Popovič, Vice Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies challenged future Doctoral students to be eager as well as proactive. “I have talked a lot about what we can offer you, but at the end of the day, what you will be able to get out of this is up to you. It is really based on your own motivation.” Professor Mateja Drnovšek, Doctoral Programme Coordinator presented the application process and gave information about how the Doctoral programme is organised.

Guest speaker Tanja Istenič, PhD, Teaching Assistant, Doctoral Programme Graduate emphasised that: “A PhD at this Faculty is a fruitful learning experience. You will interact with many international and recognised experts, but most importantly you will grow emotionally and personally.” Dina Vasić, Doctoral Programme student highlighted the importance of communication and concluded: “If you believe that the impossible can happen, well you are probably right.” The information session ended with a presentation by Irena Ograjenšek, Doctoral Programme Coordinator. She presented the programme and her role in the interdisciplinary PhD in Statistics.

To all future students: if you are “eager and proactive” enough, you are fully invited to accept the challenge and become the part of University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business. Further information about the programme and application form for enrolment in the 2019/2020 academic year can be found at the FELU website.
