The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics using a new name in the English language, based on a government ordinance

On 31 January 2019, the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia passed the Ordinance amending and supplementing the Ordinance on reorganisation of the University of Ljubljana, which entered into force on 22 February 2019. The Ordinance was published in the Official Gazette of the RS on 7 February 2019.

The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, as an internationally renowned school in the field of economics and business, has been renamed so as to emphasise the balance in the education it offers in the field of economics and business.

Our school stands out in its wider area of influence for its development and teaching of economics and business courses. The new name reflects the fact that a major part of the school’s programmes and research is concerned with the field of business sciences. The new English name ensures better understanding of our activities and the school’s influence in the international environment where it is recognised as an influential school holding the most important international accreditations in business education: EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA.

All of the above is combined in the new name of our school. Our previous official name “University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics” is now replaced by “University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business”. The new acronym we are using is SEB LU.

From now on, our new name and acronym are to be used in all international communications, including websites, documentation, materials, correspondence and other relevant matter. Our name as it appears in already existing agreements and other documents, referring to past events, need not be changed.

You are kindly asked to take the above into consideration in all of your future communications.
