The third meeting of the SMARTRURAL project partners (Erasmus + KA203 project – Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Towards smart rural tourism development in Europe) took place on 15th October 2020.
The project aims to teach students to apply principles of smart tourism to rural areas and to provide modern forms of education in the field of rural development and rural tourism. The meeting took place online due to the pandemic situation. The University of Ljubljana is one of the partners in this project and is responsible for the development of the training programme. It was hosted by the University of Alicante (Spain). The partners in the project shared information on the implemented activities, including the results of the evaluation of the training programme prepared by experts from 7 countries and evaluated by External and Internal Advisory Boards. In the next months, it is planned to train the trainers, who will then teach students the intelligent solutions for rural tourism destinations (pilot phase). The training course will be also offered to the students from the University of Ljubljana and other interested participants from Slovenia, as well as to students from other six countries: Czech Republic, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Spain and Turkey. Finally, students will have the possibility to work on projects for five pilot towns (in each country) where rural tourism is developing. The next meeting of project partners is planned at the Pegaso Universita Telematica in Naples (Italy) if the pandemic situation allows it.
