Slovenian team in the finals of the European Ethics Bowl

On Monday, November 16, 2020, SEB LU virtually hosted the European Ethics Bowl semi-finals. In the semi-finals, four teams from Slovenia, Germany, France, and the Alumni Programme of European Investment Bank Institute’s Summer School, competed.

At the first European Ethics Bowl semi-finals, we witnessed in-depth debates on financial assistance to companies during the covid-19 pandemic and the ethical dilemmas associated with them. The judges had a very difficult job as the team discussions were at a very high level. The team of students from Slovenia, who come from the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the team of the Alumni Programme of European Investment Bank Institute’s Summer School reached the finals of the competition. The finals will take place on 9 December 2020 and will be organized online by the European Investment Bank Institute.

The European Ethics Bowl competition was also praised by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, in his opening address to the International Fraud Awareness Week. In his speech he outlined the importance of including students from different countries into discussions on ethical issues.
The European Ethics Bowl was initiated by three leading European universities (School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, Goethe University, Frankfurt, University Paris Dauphine), and the Alumni Programme of European Investment Bank Institute’s Summer School. During the competition, the students have the opportunity to learn and practice the skills they need as European citizens and as citizens of the world.
