The Beta Gamma Sigma Club (BGS) at the School of Economics and Business of the University of Ljubljana, the only club in the region, boasts members who have shown outstanding achievements in the academic field. It is part of Beta Gamma Sigma International, an honorary association of the best students and graduates of business schools with the AACSB accreditation, founded in 1913 in the United States. Its mission is to reward academic excellence and promote the personal and professional development of its members through networking and the creation of various opportunities. Beta signifies Bebaeos or honour, gamma Gnosis or wisdom, and sigma Spoude or earnestness. The international organisation, which is spread over 28 countries, already has around 750,000 members.
For current and future members, there is now a BGS Corner with an information board at the faculty, offering an opportunity for networking and making connections with other students, which eventually turn into business collaborations. At the SEB LU, we celebrate joining the association with an event for each generation, which we have not organised in the past two years due to the epidemiological situation. We sent membership documents and badges to new members by post, along with our good wishes.
This year, the membership was awarded to 30 undergraduate graduates, 56 postgraduate graduates, and 6 doctoral graduates. In addition to 92 new members from Slovenia and abroad, we also accepted two honorary members, industry representatives Ms Zlata Tavčar, the director of Tax-Fin-Lex, d.o.o., and Mr Radenko Mijatović, the president of the Football Association of Slovenia.
