On Tuesday, 9 May 2023, the official opening exhibition of “Okna in Krajina” in the Gallery of the School of Economics and Business in Ljubljana was held. Artists Sead and Hazer Emrić, father and son from Bihać, Bosnia presented their artwork. Windows and Landscape nicely complemented each other, and even though each painter used different materials and had a diverse method of producing their work, both are connected with a hint of the notion of the unknown while observing the landscape in different forms.

‘Windows’, the project from young painter Hazer Emrić, was first presented in our gallery. The windows (re)present the view from the inside, through the curtains and the mosquito netting, which blur the view to the distant landscape and the sun. The possibilities of the future on the horizon are clearly marked by the state of the present. While Emrić is still studying painting at the Academy of Art in Banja Luka, he is exploring beyond classical painting and discovering new techniques of layer printing. The views are not realistic and are internally imagined by the artist. “Windows of opportunities for my future artworks,Emrić explains, as he immerses himself into childhood memories of days staring through the windows of his home.

‘Landscape’ is an exhibition of selected pieces from the father, the well-known established artist, Sead Emrić, who is a member of The Society of Fine Art Artists of Bosna and Herzegovina (ULU-BiH,) and The Society of Fine Artists of Applied Art (ULUPUBiH). His work perfectly complements the exhibition opening. With due gratefulness and respect to his Slovenian colleagues, he has carefully chosen and intuitively created art, a ‘collage’ of representations, that he feels his native land holds; the power, the heroic history of the land. Emrić concluded his thoughts on the exhibition with the idea of bonding: “It is useful for Bosnians and Slovenians to get closer and get to know each other.”
