On the first Tuesday in June, the Gallery of School of Economics and Business Ljubljana opened its doors for an art exhibit, a tradition that has been established over the years. This time, the spotlight was on Brut Carniollus, a visual artist and photographer known for his expertise in digital collage and digital graphics. His artistic creations, characterised by a reductionist approach, have won worldwide recognition and acclaim.

Brut Carniollus began his artistic journey in the world of photography. “Classical techniques were never tangible to me, which led me to find a creative outlet in digital graphics, where I can express myself in a unique way.”

The exhibit, titled “Nimam za Burek”, represents an informal admission of ignorance or lack of knowledge on a particular subject. “I often use this as an icebreaker to create a relaxed and convivial atmosphere at the beginning of a conversation.”

Brut Carniollus finds inspiration for his creative process in discovering the beauty of the human face and the magnificent expanse of distant landscapes, as seen in his works “Pandora” and “The Look”. “Each face reveals its uniqueness, and its range of expressions, which become a source of inspiration for me.”

The exhibition at the SEB is not only an opportunity to show his work, but also a chance to discover something new. “For example, at one of the exhibitions, I noticed for the first time a small bee-like figure on one of my larger paintings, and I began to wonder how it influenced its meaning.”

As for artificial intelligence, Brut Carniollus admits that it is undoubtedly one of the latest trends that strongly influences various fields, including art. “In the creation of the first five layers of the work entitled “Starhopper”. Artificial intelligence can be a great tool, but it cannot replace the indescribable human touch that artists bring to their creations.”

So be sure to take the opportunity to visit this exhibition. Take the time to immerse yourself in the captivating world of Brut Carniollus, and enjoy the irresistible pull of the profound gazes of “Pandora”, the vibrant and swirling colours of “Whirlpool”, and the ethereal depths of “When in Doubt”.
