At the ceremonial session of the Senate of the University of Ljubljana, the titles of honorary doctor, honorary senator, gold plaques, the Pro Universitate labacensi plaque and ceremonial documents were awarded to young university teachers and university colleagues. This year, Prof. dr. Uroš Seljak and Prof. dr. Jean Greisch.

The keynote speaker at the event, prof. dr. Alojz Ihan, doctor, specialist in clinical microbiology, full professor of microbiology and immunology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana, head of the Department of Immunology at the Institute of Microbiology and Immunology, emphasized in his opening address that the research achievements of scientists around the world form one of the supporting pillars civilizations – science. “It is precisely globalized science, in connection with public education, that has enabled the incredible development of technology in the last two centuries, and thus access to many goods and life opportunities for the majority of people, and not only for narrow ruling elites. At the university, we therefore always emphasize the importance of trust in science and public education, with which we can get through and survive such severe trials,” he said.

The gold plaque, awarded by the University of Ljubljana to individuals or groups for outstanding contributions in the development of scientific, educational, or artistic endeavours, as well as for enhancing the reputation of the University of Ljubljana, has also been received by Professor Polona Domadenik Muren from the SEB LU.

The solemn diploma for young university teachers and associates, awarded for outstanding pedagogical, research, and artistic achievements, has been received, among others, by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tanja Istenič, also a professor at the SEB LU.
