Mindfulness: Discovering Your Intimacy

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, we gathered in the Gallery of the School of Economics and Business University of Ljubljana for the opening of the exhibition ”Čuječnost” (angl. Mindfulness). The author of the exhibition is the artist and doctor of psychological sciences,Tone Pačnik.

“Painting is the interpretation of emotional experiences, in colour tones, artistic forms and various compositions, in forms and tones, in which the author relives his experiences.”

Artist Marjan Berovičtold us more about the exhibition. He shared with us that the author found himself in his world already in his youth, when he took refuge in his “secret garden” in times of joy and sadness, and that he still takes refuge there today. This led him to learn about the soul and psychology. He described the works in the exhibition as “reflections of the author about himself, his existence and his existence.”

Dr Pačnik is most motivated by thinking about emotions, himself and the environment, which is most visible in his colour and flat compositions. The motif that can be seen throughout the exhibition is a monologue of life – past, present and future.

The exhibition is divided into two parts, which merge nicely into each other. In the beginning, there is a more colourful and flat composition that reflects a lot of positive energy. As we move through the exhibition, the paintings become noticeably more intellectually thoughtful; colour motifs are lost in monotonous nuances, which are complemented by simple patterns. Motifs of geometric elements and their meanings in psychology are also introduced into the works.

Author Dr. Pačnik described the creation of the work as a kind of autotherapy and dialogue with oneself. During the creation of each painting, he mapped every dialogue and experience onto the canvas, which is why we can feel this experience ourselves while observing his works. He longs to discover his intimacy, which he offers us in the palm of his hand through each picture.

You are invited to see this wonderful show, which will be available in the EF Gallery until the end of this month.
