During the week of January 8 to 12, the School of Economics and Business hosted, for the first time, a study group from the University of Nebraska from the USA, which chose Slovenia for a short-term study visit based on long-term cooperation with visiting professor Patricia Meglich. 19 students of various study levels (half MBA students) came accompanied by Prof. Patricia Meglich and Prof. Kelsey Medeiros. In the Service for International Cooperation, we prepared a varied program that included organized visits, company presentations, and tours of cultural and tourist attractions in Slovenia.
We held a general presentation of the faculty at the School of Economics and Business. For the introduction, prof. Daša Farčnik and lect. M.Sc. Ženja Kansky-Rožman gave an insight into the economy and culture of Slovenia. In the afternoon, they went on a guided tour of the old city centre of Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Castle.
On Tuesday, we visited Hotel Bohinj, where the marketing manager, Mrs Jasna Dolžan Lesjak, presented the hotel and the business of Alpinia d.o.o., and then we visited the festively decorated Bled.
On Wednesday, in cooperation with the Circular Change Institute, we organized a workshop on the Circular Economy, led by project director Marco Segovia Bifarini. For a more authentic experience in the local environment, the second-year students of the IMB program, Julija Vulić and Inja Dovšak, joined the students. After the workshop, the group also visited the Development Presentation Center Triglav Lab, which provides insight into the digital services of the Triglav Group. Later, we conjured up an unforgettable experience of traditional Slovenian hospitality and entertainment at a traditional Slovenian evening organized by the company Židana marela d.o.o.
After Thursday’s intensive program in Dolenjska with an organized visit to Krka d.d., the Colnar vineyard farm, and the Berryshka distillery and chocolate factory, we went to Postojna on Friday, where we learned more about the business of Postojnska jama d.o.o. and visited Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. According to the first feedback, the students were most surprised by the natural beauty of Slovenia, the serious commitment to green and sustainable life, and the diversity of the industries and companies we visited.
