Measuring body composition
Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10 between 8 and 9 a.m. in P-008
Body composition, made up of muscle, bone, water and fat, is crucial to an individual’s health. Understanding one’s own body composition enables better care of the body and identification of potential health risks.
On Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10 2024 between 8 and 9 am in P-008, experts from the UL Faculty of Sports will conduct body composition measurements using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA).
The BIA body composition measurements are usually carried out in the morning. Further information:
- In the morning before the measurements do not eat anything.
- Ensure adequate hydration (water, lightly sweetened tea) before the measurement.
- The day before the measurement avoid excessive physical exertion.
- Measurements are not recommended for pregnant women, people with implants or pacemakers.
- If you have a glucose sensor, the day of the sensor change should be coordinated with the day of the body composition measurement.
The body composition measurement takes approximately 5 minutes. The subject shall remove outer clothing and remove jewellery, watch, belt. He/she then steps barefoot on the scale and grasps the handles located on the scale. The analysis itself takes about one minute, during which the subject should stand as still and upright as possible. At the end of the analysis, the subject receives a written report of his/her measurement.
Book by book – book exchange at UL SEB
Do your shelves occupy books you no longer need, or are you so enthusiastic about a book that you would like to delight someone else with it? Air out your bookshelf and spread good content!
As part of the Sustainability week at our school, we are organizing a special event – a book exchange. Bring well-preserved books that you would like to donate. Between April 8th and 12th, you can choose a book brought by someone else in exchange. Book collection is already underway at the lending department of our library.
We invite you to attach a short message to the book for the next reader – perhaps a note about what thrilled you in the book or a thought that will brighten someone’s day.
We believe in the power of sharing and reuse, so we invite you to join this sustainable initiative.
Exhibition of selected interviews from sustainability-themed UL SEB research
April 8 – 12, 2024 at the Central Economic Library
We invite you to view the exhibition of selected interviews from UL SEB research focusing on sustainability topics. In UL SEB research, we aim to bring the research findings of our researchers closer to a wider audience of readers. Each selected interview offers insight into a specific sustainability theme that is important for our society, well-being, and the future of our planet. From questions of energy efficiency and sustainable mobility to ethical aspects of entrepreneurship and fair resource distribution.
We are confident that the exhibition will inspire all of us to reflect and act towards a more sustainable future.
Exhibition of books with sustainability content from the CEL book collection
April 8 – 12, 2024 at the Central Economic Library
From the CEL book collection, we have selected and highlighted recent books with sustainability content. Books addressing key sustainability issues are divided into 3 thematic sections: People, Prosperity, Planet. The displayed books can also be borrowed, allowing you to deepen your knowledge of important aspects of sustainable development. We believe that books are not only a source of knowledge but also a tool for critical thinking, understanding, and co-creating a sustainable future.
Customer Response to Sustainable Advertising – Research at the Behavioral Laboratory EF
“What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t desire,” – so goes the Slovenian proverb. Would you agree with it?
Have you ever wondered about the relevance of certain ads and their messages to the target audience? As part of Sustainability Week at our faculty, taking place from April 8th to 12th, we invite you to participate in research conducted at the Behavioral Laboratory EF. Using the equipment at the lab, we aim to determine what influences customer response to sustainable advertising.
In
addition to questionnaires, this research also measures emotional response
based on heart rate, breathing rhythm, and facial expressions.
Participate in the research and discover how a better understanding of customer response to ads can help preserve the environment.
