In May, the fifth season of the international student competition European Ethics Bowl (EEB) will commence with the organization of a national competition at the School of Economics and Business. EEB is a competition in which students from all over Europe debate ethical dilemmas in the business environment. Each year, a new overall theme of the competition is determined. For this year, we have selected the topic of Artificial Intelligence and the ethical dilemmas associated with it.

All students of the University of Ljubljana and students of other Slovenian universities are invited to participate in the national qualification competition for the European Ethics Bowl, which will take place on Thursday, 23 May 2024 at 3:00 PM in the Senate Meeting Room at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business.

Each team consists of three students, who may be from different years, programs, levels of study or also from different faculties or universities. The group can also be made up of graduates, as long as no more than two years have passed since the date of completion of their studies.

At the national competition, we will select a team of students that will represent Slovenia at the international part of the EEB competition. The winning team will represent Slovenia at the semi-final competition, which will take place in November 2024 at the UL SEB.

The procedure for applying to the competition is as follows:

Case study: Read the case study that is the basis for all national competitions in all EEB member countries.

Team registration: Fill out the registration form and submit your group’s preliminary registration for the competition.

Video: Make a 3-5 minute video based on the case study. In the video, one or more members of the team should present the answers to or teams view on the question posed in the case study. Your view/answers should be presented in a way that is understandable to judges and other competing teams. Videos longer than 5 minutes or over 3 minutes as well as videos submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. The deadline for submitting the recording is Sunday, 19 May 2024 until midnight via WeTransfer to the email address stated below.

Question: All teams that submitted videos will receive videos of the other opposing teams on Monday, 20 May 2024. Watch the videos you received and prepare two questions for each team. Please send your questions to the email address below no later than midnight on Tuesday, 21 May 2024. The received questions will be forwarded to the relevant teams on the morning of 22 May 2024.

A completed registration form of the team and a submitted video is considered a successful entry to the competition. Send the video and questions to the e-mail address sara.bleiweis@ef.uni-lj.si
