The School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana has ranked in the prestigious QS International Trade Rankings (QS International Trade Rankings MBA/Masters 2024) with its Master’s programme in International Business.
The QS International Trade Rankings MBA/Masters 2024 selects and ranks the best Master’s and MBA programmes in International Business. It is a global ranking that works with the Hinrich Foundation to ensure the relevance of the criteria and the quality of the ranked programmes. The ranking of programmes and the quality criteria for the assessment of the programmes focus mainly on the content of subjects related to international business – international marketing and sales, logistics, corporate culture, international finance, etc. The best programmes of this type, which are ranked in this ranking, also have professors with extensive experience in business practice and different industries, and are tailored to current international challenges.
The Master’s programme in International Business, which has been recognised and included in the ranking, is led by Prof. Dr Maja Zalaznik: “The International Business programme, which I have been leading at the School of Economics and Business University of Ljubljana for many years, has reached 47th place in the international QS ranking. This is a great success and a recognition of the quality of our teaching and research in this field, the excellent team of professors and students, as well as all the lecturers who come from practice.” She also pointed out: “We advertise around 60 places every year, but the interest is really high. In the 2024/2025 academic year, we received 142 applications and enrolled 62 students. Currently, there are 124 students enrolled in the 1st and 2nd year, 176 students including graduates. We are also proud of the international diversity of our students, with 30% of our students coming from abroad – this year, for example, from 17 different countries. “
Prof. Dr Tomaž Turk, Dean of the School of Economics and Business, commented on this success: “Our school remains committed to excellence and continuous improvement of our educational programmes. The QS ranking is a recognition that encourages us to continue to develop and innovate. We look forward to the challenges ahead and the opportunities for further improvement. The diversity that this programme brings enriches our educational environment and enables students to gain valuable international experience and perspectives.”
Prof. Dr Maja Zalaznik stressed that an important added value of this programme in the eyes of the students is the good connection with the business, from working on projects and real-life case studies, to hosting lecturers with international business experience. “This brings students closer to the current business world and gives them a broader insight into international trends and practices.”
