On Tuesday, 8 October, the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the European Single Supervisory Mechanism for Banks, the School of Economics and Business hosted Professor Claudia Buch, PhD, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism at the European Central Bank, which is responsible for the regulatory supervision of banks in the European Banking Union.
Professor Claudia Buch had a brief courtesy reception with the Dean, where she was first introduced to our faculty and our study programmes in the field of finance. Later, she followed her visit with a lecture on reforming European banking supervision and a discussion with students in a fully packed Lila hall. Claudia Buch, PhD, who worked as a professor at the Universities of Tübingen and Magdeburg before taking up her posts, first at the German Bundesbank and then at the European Central Bank, was impressed by the interest of our students in the subject and the knowledge they showed in the discussion.
Professors involved in the preparation and implementation of the visit of Professor Claudia Buch, PhD, to the School of Economics and Business, Marko Košak, PhD, Igor Lončarski, PhD and Vasja Rant, PhD, would like to thank the staff directory for their help in organising the visit. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Bank of Slovenia, which made the visit possible.
