Showcase of Social Innovations in Slovenia

Call for Applications

Dear Social Innovators, Dear Social Entrepreneurs,

We would like to invite you to apply to participate in a session dedicated to showcasing social innovations in Slovenia as part of the Final Event of the EIB Institute Social Innovation Tournament (SIT), which will take place on 20 October 2016 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and is being organised in cooperation with the Economics Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. This session for showcasing social innovations in Slovenia is being organised in cooperation with the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Ljubljana. Our aim is to promote the access of ten selected social innovation projects such as yours to networking opportunities in order to help them develop innovative businesses. The SIT Final Event will provide a unique opportunity to learn new skills, meet leading social entrepreneurs in Europe and pitch your project to an audience of European-level stakeholders within the social impact sphere.

How to apply? To apply you need to prepare specific documents and a three-minute video that showcases your project’s promise and innovation. Please see below the detailed guidelines for the application procedure and schedule. The deadline for submission of the documents is 23:59 CET on 30 June 2016. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. In order to be considered, you have to be a resident of Slovenia, however projects may be implemented in Slovenia or elsewhere in the EU. Although the participating projects will not be competing for any financial prizes, selected projects may be entitled to further mentoring activities to help your project achieve greater success.

The selected projects will be announced on 30 August 2016 at the latest and up to two members of the team will be invited for a two-day training course on pitching and communication skills in preparation for the showcase event. Please note that participation in the training course is compulsory and the person pitching at the final event will have to be one member of the team that attended the two-day training course. The training course will take place in Ljubljana at the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship of the University of Ljubljana from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on 21 and 22 September 2016.
