Freshmen learned about Sustainable Development Goals through meeting activities

Due to the lack of an important part of socialisation caused by distance learning, SEB LU had decided that the meeting activities for freshmen would not only take place as a single event but were to be spread throughout a longer period (from 5 to 16 October).
It is the mission of SEB LU to broaden students’ horizons and train them to be socially responsible in managing business and economic challenges. Therefore, as part of meeting activities, we prepared workshops for small groups of students. The main topic of workshops was sustainability and learning about the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations. In total, almost 60 workshops took place, carried out by 17 SEB LU professors and other faculty members. During the workshops, students learned more about each other while at the same time trying to find solutions for challenges such as responsible consumption and production as well as reduction of inequality.
Making new friends while attending online lectures and in-person practical sessions had a positive outcome. Students got to know each other better in a shorter period of time than usual and created closer connections. This will ease any possible challenges arising from the continuation of the study process which has now been fully transferred online.
