UNDERGRADUATE ORIENTATION DAY – a warm welcome to all freshmen!

Dear freshmen,

the beginning of the academic year has started and we are so happy to share all the excitement with you! You entered into student life and we are proud that you took this step at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana (the SEB LU).

We organised an Undergraduate Orientation day for all first-year students enrolled in a University degree programme in Business and Economics (English track) live at school. We welcomed them on 30 September 2022 at 9 am in Lila hall.

The English-speaking event for bachelor students provided information on international student-specific topics:

• organising your life in Slovenia,

• the study system at the SEB LU,

• the student life in Ljubljana, etc.

After the introductory reception and a short presentation of the school, we also took group photo with the freshmen, which we hope will remain in a beautiful memory of their first student day. Then we equipped the students with some practical information about the study at the SEB LU. After the presentations, they went on a guided tour of the school.

At the introductory part of the Undergraduate orientation day 2022, our new students listened to Prof. Mitja Kovač, who spoke about values, to alumnus Uroš Ferlin, who, despite being diagnosed with dyslexia, became the founder of coaching for discovering potentials and hacking time. Students were also greeted by the teachers who the students will meet in the winter semester and they told them a few words about the subject they are teaching. The representative of the SEB LU Student Council Matej Lino Pirc also made a speech. Reception moderator Martina Sagir talked to our students, who gave the freshmen some extremely useful tips for studying; Barbara Teodorović and Rastko Ilić, both coming from Serbia were with us.

The lessons will start on Monday, October 3, 2022. During the first week, you will also get acquainted with the activities at the SEB LU, University and the associations that work under the auspices of the SEB LU. We invite you to join our library, your favourite sports activity, and become part of one of the associations, thus developing your skills and potential outside of your studies.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Study process

The study process will be conducted in person at the faculty.

• Physical Education

For freshmen, physical education is compulsory. Online registration for training groups will take place from Friday, 30 September, to Monday, 4 October 2022. Physical education professors will be available for additional information on 30 September 2022 in the atrium between the Small and Large lecture halls from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

• Central Economics Library (CEL) 

CEL is expecting freshmen at the stand this year, where you can sign up for the library and thus avoid the crowds. You can find out all about our e-resources and trainings. Visit us between the Small and Large Halls from 30 September onwards at the ‘PopUp*CEL’ stands:

• on Friday 30 September from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm,
• on Monday 3 October from 7:30 am to 10:30 am,
• on Tuesday 4 October from 8:00 am to 10:30 am,
• on Wednesday 5 October from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm.

• Schedules

Schedules for the winter semester 2022/2023 will be published on Student-net. To access Student-net you’ll need your digital identity.

• Digital identity

You can acquire your digital identity on the UL portal.

• EFfective freshman 

All important information about studying at the SEB LU can be found in the manual EFfective freshman, which will be sent to your e-mail address and published online.

• The student health centre of the University of Ljubljana

The student health centre of the University of Ljubljana offers comprehensive health care for students. You can find more information in the attachment. 

• Introductory workshops for first-year students:

During the first week of October (from 3 to 7 October), introductory workshops will be organized for all first-year students. The goal of the workshops is for you to get to know your peers better while learning something new. Due to space limitations, each group will be divided into two parts (UPEŠ 1 – UPEŠ 1a and UPEŠ 1b or VPŠ 1 – VPŠ 1a and VPŠ 1b).

Before the beginning of the academic year, the University of Ljubljana held a traditional International Student Welcome Day that took place on 15 September 2022. You can find more information about it here.
