Ljubljana, Thursday, 25 May – The Velika Dvorana at the Faculty of Economics set the scene for an exquisite ceremony celebrating the recipients of the Beta Gamma Sigma Awards in an elegant setting. In attendance were the deserving young scholarship recipients and their esteemed guests, including relatives and friends. The profound significance of the occasion reverberated through the large auditorium, underscoring the seriousness of the occasion.

The ceremony was opened by the honourable Dean, Prof. Dr. Metka Tekavčič, who addressed the audience with poignant words in her last term as Dean: “We are very proud of the trust you have placed in us. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your contributions that have elevated our faculty to the ranks of the world’s leading business institutions.”

An integral part of the ceremony was the presentation of honorary awards by the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma group, which had the privilege of nominating two outstanding candidates for their exceptional contributions to the field of economics. This year, the honours were awarded to Anita Stojčevska, MSc, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Board Member at SKB Banka d.d., and Ivo Boscarol, founder, co-owner, and honorary president of Pipistrel Group. In her address, Stojčevska urged the students to realise that “today you are ascending into the realm of experts. In a world that is constantly changing, it is our duty to adapt and keep up with the dynamic development. While you enjoy the fruits of your current success, rest assured that there are still numerous triumphs to come on your arduous journey.”

The other recipient of the honorary award was Ivo Boscarol, who delighted the audience with his inspirational speech: “My generation, driven by the relentless pursuit of profit and a comfortable life, inadvertently accelerated technological progress. Your generation has a monumental responsibility to balance the needs and desires of humanity and the planet with the impulses of progress. You have been given a challenge, and I firmly believe in your ability to face it.”

In conclusion, it is with deep admiration and unwavering optimism that we extend our best wishes to these remarkable young scholars. Echoing the immortal words of Frank Sinatra, eloquently delivered by the accomplished musicians at the climax of the event, may they soar to unprecedented heights, fulfil their ambitions, and “fly to the moon” in their pursuit of greatness.
