Senate of the University of Ljubljana approved the new overall graphic image of UL

At its 19th regular meeting on June 27, 2023, the Senate of the University of Ljubljana (UL) approved the design and system solution for the overall graphic image of UL and its members.

The new integrated graphic image, the conceptual solution of which was approved yesterday by the UL Senate, functions as a continuation of the previous identity. The conceptual solution maintains the connection with the facade of the State Palace building, the seat and symbol of the University of Ljubljana, while at the same time the new logo is significantly more visible and legible compared to the old sign. The sign of the Country Manor with its openness illustrates a positive element, as it communicates future development. The new system solution takes into account the organizational branching of UL, and with its modular structure, it offers a sufficiently open system solution for the later addition of new entities. The authors of the conceptual proposal are Špela Pfeifer, Martin Košir, Igor Savič and Mitja Jereb from the agency PM, business media d. o. o.

Part of the new overall graphic image is the typeface Univerza Sans by Alja Herlah, which won an award at the Brumn Biennale. The typeface Univerza Sans is a modern and fresh hybrid between geometric and humanist sans-serif with a unique style, which was influenced by the combination of the Slovenian avant-garde with some recognizable forms that are known in Slovenian typography.

The approved conceptual solution for the design and system solution of the integrated graphic image of UL and its members was selected in a public competition this spring. The new overall graphic image will start to be used on January 1 next year – initially in digital environments, and then in all other formats and channels.
