On Thursday, 23rd of November 2023, in the halls of Dvorana Stožice, alumni bachelors, masters in all fields and ambitious students, as well as discerning companies actively seeking new talent came together at the Alumni JUMP career fair, organized by SEB LU Alumni. With unbridled enthusiasm, 35 prestigious companies presented themselves at the event, each with its own pavilion, offering aspiring candidates a tailor-made opportunity to explore the diverse range of job market opportunities in detail.

The atmosphere, characterized by the presence of highly motivated alumni students, offered a deep insight into the intricacies of today’s job market. Renowned companies, including industry giants such as Krka, Lek in the pharmaceutical sector and Grant Thornton in consulting, elegantly presented their vacancies and offered participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in the possible career paths.

A special feature of the event was the exclusive opportunity for one-on-one meetings with company representatives. This avant-garde format allowed applicants to bypass conventional selection procedures and gain the undivided attention of potential employers for a valuable 10-minute conversation.

The event was not limited to employment opportunities, but also featured a series of workshops with industry experts focused on personal and professional development, such as the exclusive D-Talk. Attendees explored sales and branding through videos on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. With the upcoming “TikTok for Business” in our region, the focus was on bridging the gap between brands and consumers through vertical video content. Key topics included selling on social media, developing community building strategies, effectively combining organic and paid campaigns, and unveiling upcoming opportunities in 2024. The discussion was dynamic and attention-grabbing.

The landscape of the event went beyond just job listings, offering a series of workshops led by industry luminaries, all carefully designed to encourage personal and professional development. Business students had the rare privilege of learning directly from industry thought leaders and gaining a privileged insight into the ever-evolving market dynamics.

One attendee emphasized the marked difference from the traditional resume submission paradigm: “Real connections are made here, direct dialogues are created, and in case of disagreements, you can seamlessly move on to the next potential employer.

The results of the interviews showed a broad spectrum: some participants were euphoric because they had secured potential job offers, while others thoughtfully reflected on the various experiences. In any case, the students showed a noticeable willingness to actively participate and take advantage of the many opportunities offered to them.

Despite a slight deviation from the expected number of participants, given the value of the event for alumni students, the call to action resounds – don’t miss out on attending the next edition. Even in the event of a neutral outcome, the experience gained offered by the companies will undoubtedly expand one’s professional repertoire.
