From 18th to 20th of September the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana hosted 26th Annual Conference of the European Association of Labour Economists. Over 440 participants from 33 countries presented high-quality research on labour market issues, mobility, migration and regional labour markets, income distribution, education, training and human capital, job and life satisfaction, retirement, welfare, health, personnel economics as well as program and policy evaluation. Apart from discussions and research collaborations the three keynote speakers additionally discussed relevant topics in labour economics. Oriana Bandiera (London School of Economics) discussed incentives for public service delivery and provided evidence from field experiment; Jan van Ours (Tilburg University) talked about the Great Recession that was not so great; and Lawrence F. Katz (Harvard University) held the first video lecture as a plenary session on the understanding long-run changes in the U.S. wage structure from 1820 to 2012.DSC_7863 Youth unemployment and its incidences and consequences had been recognized and addressed in plenary and parallel sessions as well as at the round table chaired by Jan Svejnar (Columbia University) especially addressed the contemporary challenges of youth Unemployment in Europe. The successful conference ended with an award ceremony where an award for Best Poster was given to Michèle Belot (The University of Edinburgh) and Alex Armand (University College London) received Young Labour Economist Award.
