FELU hosted the 33rd EUCEN Conference on University Lifelong Learning and the Bologna Process

From 15 to 17 March 2007 the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana hosted the 33rd EUCEN (European University Continuing Education Network) conference on University Lifelong Learning and the Bologna Process.

The conference was mostly aimed at representatives from universities, the government and the business world in ULLL to come together to discuss current issues, to exchange best practice and innovation, and to network. More than a hundred people from more than 25 countries from all over the world attended the conference, which confirms that its theme was topical and interesting.

The Opening Ceremony took place at the University of Ljubljana, where the participants were addressed and warmly welcomed by its Rector, prof. dr. Andreja Kocijančič, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, prof. dr. Maks Tajnikar, and the EUCEN President, prof. dr. Michel Feutrie. The rest of the conference was held at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, where prof. dr. Maks Tajnikar opened the conference with a lecture on the New Programs at the Faculty of Economics prepared in line with the principles of the Bologna declaration with an emphasis on the ULLL. Among the main lecturers were also prof. dr. Ana Kranjc from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, prof. dr. Michel Feutrie, EUCEN President, and prof. dr. Jyrki Myllyvirta, Chairman of the Commission for Culture and Education of the Committee of the Regions from Finland. In the concluding part of the conference a European Commission representative, Mr Peter van der Hijden, presented the role of local and regional authorities in the Bologna process to the participants.

In addition to listening to the plenary sessions, the conference participants also took an active part in the workshops where they discussed current problems and exchanged their experience, opinions and ideas.

After the hard work at the conference the participants had a chance to unwind. We arranged a wonderful Slovenian night for them at Ljubljana Castle and took them to the Postojna Caves.
