EFA 34th annual meeting

This year the Faculty of Economics hosted the largest annual meeting of financial experts in the entire world, the 34th annual European Finance Association (EFA) meeting. The meeting was attended by around 500 prominent researchers, professors, and other financial experts.
The opening reception took place at the Ljubljana castle, where Dušan Mramor, head of the EFA2007 organizing committee, Zoran Janković, the mayor of Ljubljana, and Danijel Pučko, the Faculty of Economics dean addressed and heartily welcomed the participants. Participants were also treated to Slovenian culinary specialties and enjoyed a performance by the Tine Rožanc folklore group.
The working part of the conference took place at the faculty, where authors presented their individual papers covering the latest findings in finance, which were also discussed by the other contributors. The central plenary lecture was given by the internationally recognized expert Franklin Allen, professor of finance and economics at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
The social part of the conference consisted of a visit to the Postojna Caves and a Gala Evening at Grand Hotel Union. During their visit to the Postojna Caves, participants heard a surprise performance by Alenka Godec, who created a magical evening with her glorious singing. Andrej Bajuk, the Minister of Finance, Dušan Mramor, head of the conference organizing committee, Rajna Gibson and Arnold Boot, head of the conference program committee spoke to participants at the Gala Evening at Grand Hotel Union. The Rožmarinke string ensemble provided the evening’s musical entertainment.
