Pen-Raising Charity for Tanzanian Children

24.01.2011No Comments

Throughout the whole December we were collecting all kinds of pens in the IMB (International Full Time Master Programme in Business Administration) premises and in front of FELU reception with the purpose to give them to African children. We managed to gather more than 1000 pencils (too many to count) which were given to Špela Mraz (FELU student). She spent 3 weeks in Tanzania, where she visited an orphanage, primary schools and a lot of small villages and made the children thrilled by giving them pens, which we often take for granted.

As Špela described it: »For me travelling is all about discovering the world, being amazed by the nature wonders, meeting local people and listening to their stories. Their stories are different from ours, not necessarily sad, but surely more modest. It was amazing to experience the African way of life and to make children happy with very simple gifts such as a kind word, a warm hug, a pen, a colour pencil, a notebook or a candy. Their smiles and excitement said it all. «

Many thanks for all who contributed. Your donations were very warmly welcomed by Tanzanian children.
