COBIK 2013: Innovation is the key to success!
»Cooperation is the path to do something good, if you want to be entrepreneur, you have to go out of your comfortable zone. «, was an opening statement by the hosts of the COBIK conference, Ajša Vodnik, MSc, Executive Director AmCham Slovenia and Maja Makovec Brenčič, PhD, COBIK and University of Ljubljana, Vice-Rector. Additionally they emphasized also the meaning of centres of excellence for development of Slovenian economy.
This years COBIK’s conference was intended to investments and technological challenges connected with the U.S.–SLOVENIA BUSINESS BRIDGE, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia.
The stage was taken by Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Jernej Pikalo, PhD: »Slovenian economy is slowing down, and it is important to invest into internationalization of knowledge and technology, also to give more value to innovation, is to go global. «
Zev Gurion, Executive Director of Akron BioMedical corridor said that for Slovenia is important to develop from local innovation to global business growth. Innovations in Slovenia suffer the most because of its governments. »Governments treats entrepreneurs like small children. Instead of giving entrepreneurs free hands for innovation, they slow them down with giving them directions and demands about work.«
Among intentions of this year COBIK conference the very important was to rethink where Slovenes are heading with today’s high-tech. Centres of excellences support us to move forward with our economy. We have three very important centres of excellence: COBIK, PoliMat and EN-FIST. All of them are very active in their field of study and intention to make Slovenia better step by step.
