Coincidence that brought us knowledge

On Wednesday, 30.10.2013 the ex-vice president of Nokia’s Carl Martin SANDELIN visited Faculty of Economics, who was accepted by the Vice-dean Vesna Žabkar. After the meeting with the board he had lecture for IMB students about Nokia’s business over time.

During IMB initiation party, among one of our many tasks, we had a chance to have a drink (or two) on the street with an ordinary man called Martin and his wife Tina. He was nice, talkative and friendly as well as his wife was. During our talk it has turned out he was not as ordinary as we expected. He was a Martin Sandelin, former senior vice president of company Nokia. Nokia!!! We talked and questioned and every answer was more interesting than previous so we have arranged that he would be our guest at our IMB premises and have a lecture on Rise and fall of Nokia.

That is how we came from having a drink with an ordinary person to having a very productive lecture on organization, visions, strategies, opportunities and traps of being a manager and many more. It was a great and very educational experience. We are thankful to Mr. Sandelin and hope he will visit us again.
