Celebration of the Chinese New Year at Primary school Trnovo
On Tuesday, 17th February 2015, a celebration of the Chinese New Year or Spring festival was held at Primary school Trnovo, Confucius classroom Ljubljana. The event was the result of collaboration of four Slovenian schools (elementary school Koseze, primary school Savsko naselje, primary school Vižmarje Brod and primary school Trnovo) and the Confucius Institute Ljubljana. In addition to the celebration of the most important Chinese holiday, the purpose of the event was to enable students to present their knowledge of Chinese language and work of arts on the theme of Chinese culture and tradition. The guests of honor were the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Miro Cerar and His Excellency, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Slovenia, Mr. Zhang Xianyi.
They celebrated the arrival of a Chinese year of goat, which according to the lunar calander begins on 19th February 2015. Goat as the eight animal of the Chinese zodiac is a symbol of peace and coexistence, solidarity and tranquility. Even though goats are known as gentle animals, on the inside they are strong and persistent. They are team oriented, so this year will focus on mutual cooperation and join forces.
Students, who attend the activity of interest Getting to know the Chinese culture and language, thrilled the guests with the Chinese song, dance and knowledge of the Chinese language.
