8th Competition in Chinese for foreign students “Chinese Bridge 2015”
We are really proud to be a part of 8th Competition in Chinese knowledge for students, which took place in Kunming between 18th October and 1st November 2015. All Slovenian representatives were from grammar school.
Tjaša Erznožnik and Žan Govekar actively participated in Chinese Bridge. were there as observants. All of them were accompanied by sinologist prof. Nina Ovsenek.
After two days in Beijing, where they visited tourist attractions and Hanban, headquarter for Confucius Institutes, they had two weeks of preparations for all the competitors. The Competition was intense. Elimination started already in the beginning. Only the top 17 continued to the next cycle of competition. And then there were only 10 groups left.
Only the top 5 competitors were ranked in the end. Therefore, we think our students were somewhere in the golden middle. Given the circumstances this is a solid raking because our 2 competitors study Chinese only as an optional language and they were actually competing with students who learn Chinese as first or second language.
Our students were amazed by the endless number of young people, who study Chinese and realize how important is for their future. In the end, we should mention that our two competitors also received 6 month scholarship to study in China.
