Chinese days at II. Gimnazija Maribor
Between January the 30th and February the 15th 2018 at II. Gimnazija Maribor there were held Chinese days for the 5th time.
This year’s Chinese days were opened with the exhibition »Chinese Ethnic Minorities« in the exhibition ground in the school lobby. The exhibition included an introduction to six ethnic minorities: the Tibetan people, the Manchu people, Mongols, the Tujia people, the Zhuang people and the Hui people. At the Chinese tea culture presentation the visitors were introduced to the art of Chinese tea, which includes from the careful selection of tea leaves to the tea tasting, as well as the art of the preparing of Chinese tea itself. In the frame of Chinese days CC Maribor also organized two workshops; at the Chinese cuisine workshop the course participants learned to prepare a Chinese New Years dish, called jiaozi and a typical Chinese snack, Chinese rolls with young onions. At the Chinese painting workshop the Chinese teacher explained them the specifics of Chinese painting and the visitors were motivated to try and paint two traditional Chinese motifs. Chinese days were finalized with the event the Celebration of the Chinese New Year, which was held at the amphitheater at II. Gimnazija Maribor.
