May, the month of Chinese culture has been especially interesting this year, as we have officially opened the new Confucius institute info point located in the Atrium of the Faculty of Economics, called the Konfucijeva edikula.
At the inaugural opening of the Edikula, the ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China, his excellency Mr. Ye Hao, the rector of the University of Ljubljana, prof. dr. Igor Papič and the dean of the faculty of Economics, prof. dr. Metka Tekavčič have officially marked the beginning of the Days of Chinese culture. In cooperation with Confucius Institute Novi Sad, the opening was accompanied by a presentation of the Chinese tea culture, followed by the photographic exhibition and lecture by former ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Beijing, Mrs. Marija Adanja. The event was lit up by several cultural performances by Confucius Classroom Ljubljana and Confucius Classroom Maribor and befitting a true Chinese celebration, the traditional Chinese lion dance.
The days of Chinese culture continued with the lecture of Mrs. Zorana Baković, famous Slovenian journalist and great connoisseur of Chinese culture and current economic and political situation in China and East Asia. More than 60 audience attended the lecture. When it comes to the situation of new globalization, Mrs. Zorana Baković explained from the perspective of Chinese Taoism: the Yin and Yang theory. She pointed out that the World could move forward towards a better future only when countries cooperate with each other. As with One Belt and One Road Initiative, Mrs. Zorana Baković suggested European countries to think what they want from the Initiative in order to enjoy the benefits brought by China.
In the second week of the days of Chinese culture, we decided to focus on health and well-being. Chinese doctor Shan Chen from FU TKM with help of translator Sarah Berkovič, presented the methods of traditional Chinese medicine, which can help us maintain mental stability during intensive and stressful times.
