Information Day at the School of Economics and Business

On Friday, 17 February 2023, probably the most promising crowd of secondary-school students who will soon start building their future gathered at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana. On Friday alone, more than a thousand curious students-to-be came to see one of their first three shortlisted schools. In two packed out lecture rooms, they received basic information about what awaits them as they transform into SEB LU students.

After the introductory lecture, the secondary-school students, guided by the students of the “Povezani EF” student association, walked around the school, past the library, the canteen and the lecture rooms, getting to know the spaces where they will spend their study years, as well as the extra-curricular activities that the association offers.

Those with clear goals boldly approached the info points, where they most often asked for more detailed information about the fields of study in the SEB LU study programmes, which they will be able to choose when enrolling in the second year.

To get a real feel for the pulse of the Information Day, I had a few words with prospective students. Two students from the Škofja Loka Grammar School told me that they had already made up their minds and were looking forward to studying at the SEB LU, one of them even in the English programme. Others were still choosing between neighbouring faculties such as the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Two students from Novo mesto have chosen to study at the SEB LU in Ljubljana as an upgrade of their profession as economic technicians and have no other aspirations. Later on, they plan to choose between the fields of management and marketing.

Friends from different general high schools in Ljubljana – Bežigrad, Šentvid and the private school Erudio – said they were still choosing between economics and law and/or financial mathematics, but they already had a rough idea of the direction they want to take. What convinced them most about the SEB LU was the wide choice of programmes which are offered also in English.

We hope all prospective students make the right choice and not only enrol in the school of their choice, but also successfully complete their chosen studies.
